Art is my passion and I wish to explore all facets of art. Hence I try different medium from Painting to Installation. I have a penchant for Installation and sculpting, the forth coming page will have pictures about my craft works, sculpting and installations. Whatever I look at has an artistic form in it and so I keep making collage, shapes, characters out of it. When I am at a dinning table in a hotel too, my eyes look for forms and colors. The Plate becomes the face and the fork & spoons take the form of a stick figure for torso... The napkin is made to a dog's face.. There has not been a single day that I resisted myself from creating a piece of art... "from a small bit of rags to a big marble stone, nothing can escape through her hands... they will be reborn" - quotes my mom....
MY Fourth show was for the “World Peace Day” titled “Varuna’s Hands on Peace” held on 22nd sep,2007 at Raj Bhavan, Guindy following day after “World Peace Day”. His Excellency the Governor Shree. Surjit Singh Barnala had kindly inaugurated the show. The show featured 194 works of art representing 194 countries of the world. Our Governor quoted that “Varuna is the only child (to his knowledge) to have held Painting exhibitions at this very young age and she has good potentials”.
Mediums of Painting:
I chose to present my art in the following Mediums:
· Pebble Art – Arranging Colorful pebble stones in formation of Peace related messages
· Photo Art – Importing a photographic picture into a painter software and using digital techniques to write messages
· Sand Art – Writing and drawing about peace on the sands (near the sea shores)
Peace education is not simply favoring the absence of war. Children must be guided to think clearly, analyze penetratingly, and challenge fearlessly. The next generation of children must reject killing as an uncivilized and unproductive way to deal with human conflict. The citizens of the world deserve future leaders who will be able to face and solve problems with diplomacy and dialogue.
when we love everything and everyone on this earth, then there is no conflict, no violence, no groupism and no war.
Varuna has been selected the Jr. House Captain (Girls) for Nehru House today. Its a proud moment for us as the school celebrates its Silver Jubilee year.
On March 13th 2007, when my father Ap. Shreethar hosted a unique show on Ustad Dr. Zakir Hussain, titled 'Zakir Hussian in my Dreams" which was inaugurated by the Maestro himself in Chennai. Jointly I exhiited my abstract strokes on ustadji and our Tabela Maestro appreciated my paintings. He autographed them. When I showed my 1st International Award for my painting he showed it to all and gave his blessings. After that I have never missed to meet him during his visits to Chennai for consorts.
During one such occassion I showed him my next award "Youngest Corel Certified Designer", again he showed to all his fans in his green room and congratulated me. He is a great musician and a humble Person. I love Zakirji. I consider that I am very fortunate to pay tribute to him by my drawing. I admire his humility and thank him very for his encouragement
The Solo Exhibition was held on the Children’s day, the14th November 2006. Ms. Aksharaa Haasan, daughter of Padmashree Dr. Kamal Haasan and Ms. Subhulaxmi, daughter of Ms. Gowthami inaugurated the show by lighting an artistic lamp.The show had all mixed media works on various subjects like Landscapes, Mother and Child, Ganesha, Boy & Girl, Abstract digital Art.Leading Film actor Surya and Music director Yuvan Shankar Raaja were present for the show. She performed a live painting during the show, for the Spectators and Media people.

Celebrity children inaugurate painting exhibition

Six-year-old Varuna took to painting when she was three

CHENNAI: When Aksharaa spoke of her interests, one was reminded of her father, actor Kamal Haasan's, current project `Dasaavatharam', in which he plays 10 roles.
"I really enjoy playing soccer. But, at the moment I'm pursuing fashion designing and dance (jazz). I am also preparing myself to enter the film industry," said Aksharaa Haasan, who is in her eleventh grade now. She, along with actor Gowthami's daughter, Subhalaxmi, inaugurated six-year-old Varuna's painting exhibition on Tuesday.
"Oh, I like being creative but she (Aksharaa) is a lot more creative than I am. She once made a photo frame out of matchsticks," little Subhalaxmi said eagerly. A Standard II student, she said she enjoyed doing "anything that's creative."
And, when an enthusiastic journalist asked if they were good friends, Aksharaa smiled and said, "We're sisters."
As Varuna painted a Ganesha in a live demo, Aksharaa and Subhalaxmi closely watched the child's seemingly effortless strokes morph into a colourful Ganesha in a matter of seconds.
Varuna, a student of AMM Matriculation, expressed fondness for the painting brush when she was barely three. Drawing inspiration from her father, a self-taught artist, she decided to spend more time with colours. The Ganesha was just another example of her fascination for art.
Observing all this quietly was Vaasav Thayumanavan, son of actor Yugi Sethu. "I enjoy writing poems. Seeing all the colours here, I'm tempted to write one more when I get back home," said the child, who studies in Standard II.
And when the camerapersons were just about done falling over each other to capture the children, actor Suriya's sudden appearance caused greater excitement. Several clicks later, the guests got to see the child's paintings. An evidently impressed Suriya, who came along with his sister Brinda, left after a chat with actor Gowthami, who accompanied Aksharaa and Subhalaxmi.
To celebrate Children's day, noted artist Sreethar's six-year-old daughter Varuna Sreethar conducted a painting exhibition at Presidency Club in Chennai on Tuesday. The event was inaugurated by Akshara Kamal Haasan (Kamal's daughter) and Subbulakshmi (actress Gowthami's daughter).
At the exhibition, Varuna displayed her paintings that covered varied themes including nature and images of Lord Ganesha.
Inaugurating the exhibition, both Akshara and Subbulakshmi bought a few paintings.
The celebrities who visited the exhibition included actor Suriya and director Selvaraghavan.
Both Akshara and Subbulakshmi (friends of Varuna) appreciated the art works and urged Varuna to do more in future.
On his part, Suriya blessed the child to come up with more such works in the future and also bought an oil painting of Lord Ganesha put up by Varuna.
The duo Show was held between 17th August 2006 to 27th August 2006. The paintings exhibited were on Lord Ganesha. Mixed Media Paintings drawn by me from the age of 3 to 6 were exhibited during the show. Veteran Danseuse and Actress Ms. Vaijayanthi Mala Bali and Mr. Suchin Bali inaugurated the show.
Six-year-old holds her first painting exhibition - Deccan Chronicle, 26th August, 2006
When two and a half year old S. Varuna first took a brush to create a few strokes, little did her parents A.P. Sreethar and Nirmala realise that they were witnessing a budding young talent at work. Today, six-years-old Varuna, a class one student of A.M.M. Matriculation, is holding her first exhibit on — a series of paintings on Lord Ganesha at Ayya Art Galleries, Royapettah.
Recalls Nirmala, “When she first scribbled a few strokes, we thought that it was just her way of trying out something new. And as time went by Varuna became more and more fascinated by painting and that is when we decided to seriously encourage her.” These days Varuna can handle medium like acrylic, watercolours, oils pastels and pencil shading, but votes watercolours as her favourite out of them all. And creating artworks with Ganesha on them is what she does best, “I like painting Ganesha because he is so friendly and beautiful,” chirps Varuna.
While talking about her favourite colours, pat comes the reply, “Blue, pink and orange; these are main colours that I have used in my paintings.” Her artistic streak extends to activities like clay modelling, sand art and tile painting as well. This little girl has been captured by the magic of painting to such an extent that once during a fancy dress competition in school she dressed up as M.F. Hussain and drew a Ganesha in a couple of quick strokes, just like the famous painter’s trademark.
According to her parents, the main reason why Varuna has taken such a serious liking to painting is because of the ambience at home — her father A.P. Shreethar is an artist and it is with him that she is holding this exhibition. “Varuna had been painting Ganeshas ever since she was in L-KG and we have been collecting all her paintings. Since her father was also going to hold an exhibition, we thought that it would be a good idea to display her work as well,” explain her parents.
Varuna declares that she is quite happy that people are coming to see her paintings and adds, “When I grow up I want to be an artist so that more people will come to see my work.”
